Motivation
The idea to host this event came in late 2003.
Me & a few of game enthusiasts used to organise simple lan-parties before, but those
used to be quite boring and nothing official. So I got the idea to host an 'official'
Unreal tournament lan-party at my school with registered teams, non-stop battles and
prizes.
Overview
To make this 'project' see day light I had to do a lot of talking.
First I wrote quite a big plan of the whole event. Then gave it to the school mistress
and finally together with my informatics teacher we were allowed to host this lan-party
at my school. Not enough, I had to do the talking with quite a few firms in my town. Those
include: "Vizinga", "Comlinksa", "UAB Edvonis" and "UAB Milda".
In the end, for the prizes me & my team had: ~$100, 3 webcams, 3 cups and 3 medals.
2003-12-05 ( Friday ) was the day before the actuall party. We had to configure ~25 PCs, download the
best Unreal Tournament maps, write a team number generation program,
make advertisements for the firms, set up the sound system and many other things before we
felt confident with the success of the event. The event took place on saturday in our gymnasium's informatic's classroom nr. 42 at ~11:00.
8 teams arrived each of which consisted of 3 players.
First we run the "random team number generator" program which generated a team number from 1 to 8 for each team.
Later we gave the teams an hour to practise and to get used to the PCs.
After the hour of practise our lan-party was officialy started.
In total, 16 maps were played. 8 - Deathmatches and 8 - Capture the flag.
Our Lan-party ended up at ~19:00. The 1st place was taken by team B.U.F.U , the 2nd were KIRILS and the 3rd were RAM.
All winners were awarded. We also had awards for "the best team name" and for "the best team catchword".
