I used to hang around in IRC a lot, but now I don't use mIRC and such at all. In case you wonder, my nicks were: KiemZargis, [Sorcerer], Sorcy ( in Lithuanian servers) and KiemZargis, Pumpkin, Punky, MCpunky ( in Esper.net ). I think IRC is useful if the channels you hang around are very active, but such are really rare. Idling in dead channels is probably the same as playing WOW ( looking from the productivity point of view).
